19.07.2010 Multinational Festival Project: Desert Bridges
The Multinational Festival-Project Desert Bridges proposes encounters between western trained improvisational musicians with folk musicians from India, Egypt and Morocco. The work and music will focus on common spiritual elements that all people share, universal love, praise and prayer, the multi-cultural music unit will combine the various elements into a fully integrated and cohesive whole that will be improvisational in nature, musically speaking, while retaining elements of all three cultures. The project will be documented by a music CD and a book with photographs (More information about project)

28.04.2010 Restoring a Kasbah in Morocco
Inspired by a trip to Morocco in 1997 the clay-building expert Manfred Fahnert/Germany started a developing-aid-project to restore the ruins of the traditional Kasbah Caid Ali in the city of Asslim in the south of the Atlas mountain-range.
Based on experience of CERCAS, an Moroccan organization for the protection of historical monuments, 25 people interested in the idea travelled in 1998 to Asslim to study the chances to restore Caid Ali. In 1999 students from the German universities of Weimar, Dresden and Marburg joined as a travel/study group – since 2000 students get for it a certificate as a traineeship. Step by step the exchanges were build-up to become an intercultural program to study Morocco and European techniques to build with clay and to understand and design local art. The project got “branded” by the name “Lehm (clay) Express” ( more )
