24.01.2012 Professionals and Amateurs

Wolfgang Zurborn and Tina Schellhorn started 25 years ago to run a photo-gallery in Cologne/Germany under the name “Lichtblick”. They arranged in that time more than 180 exhibitions. Among the counries/partners had been New Zealand (2004) with Harvey Benge, Lithuania (2005) and Mongolia (2010) with Elanie Ling.

But Zurborn is also teaching photography – his Homepage www.lichtblick-school.com reveals the school-character. Just lately he started internationally also an exchange with a school in Florence/Italy and in 2012 he supports a big festival in Georgia. In autumn 2012 he is organising a Photo-study-tour to Portugal.

20.12.2011 Art for Leadership

The IEDC-Bled School of Management/Slovenia is a world leader in arts-based methods for leadership and management development. The integration of art and art experiences has been a foundational aspect of the school from the beginning. This begins with the school's design. As a beautiful architectural space it incorporates views to the alpine surroundings of lake Bled with an art gallery approach. When people enter the school they truly enter an art gallery where each room incorporates prominent art from internationally acclaimed local artists. This enlivens the learning and working space of IEDC creating an aesthetically inspiring environment for students, staff and faculty. At the same time the art collection supports and promotes the arts communities in this region of Europe.

As important as this is, IEDC's art-based philosophy goes well beyond an aesthetically pleasing place to study and work. Students in the programmes are directly engaged by expert arts faculty. Within the programmes, from MBA to many in-company programmes, participants learn about creativity and innovation, leadership and communication skills, and social, moral and ethical issues through the arts by the motto "hear more, see more and feel more".

20.11.2011 Inspiration

The meeting of the Eurasian Youth Forum in Yekaterinburg/Russia was inspired by a performance of Saina, who originally comes from the North Siberian city of Yakutsk and is famous for her traditional ethnic folk-songs. Today she is living in Moscow – but she took the chance to mix with all the young participants during their events in Yekaterinburg (more about Saina here).

The next competition of the Youth Forum will be in May 2012 – just before joining the Astana Economic Forum in Kazakhstan where students will meet among other people seven Nobel Laureates.
